After successfully completing a 3 year Bricklaying & House Maintenance Apprenticeship back in 1991, I worked for Durham County Council on building, concreting, paving, roofing, home repairs & general handyman jobs indoors and out.
Then followed a period working as a freelance bricklayer, but I missed the variety I'd become accustomed to while working on property maintenance. I never knew what I'd be called out to, where I was going or even what time I'd be home, but it worked for me.
Re-engaging with a facilities management firm, I found myself seconded mainly to the MoD, working at various establishments across Yorkshire & the North East including Catterick & RAF Bulmer. Duties included plastering, tiling, fixing & replacing toilets bathrooms doors & door furniture, fitting kitchen work tops not to mention a ton of roof repairs & small plumbing jobs.
People were always asking me to do private work on THEIR HOMES too! I'm the last person to brag, but they kept telling me I was a fantastic handyman & that it was very hard to find good reliable home repair men. So in 2002 I took the plunge & started working on my own account as a part time handyman around the Darlington & Northallerton area of Yorkshire.
